BS15000 is the new International ISO Standard - ISO20000

May 17, 2005 - ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, has accepted BS15000 as a new international ISO standard: ISO20000. ISO standards can be created in one out of two ways:

  • Co-operative creation by involved countries, or
  • The fast-track route based upon an already existing national standard.

Two weeks ago, the voting on the fast-track route of BS15000, the British standard for IT Service Management, resulted in the acceptance of BS15000 in the range of international ISO standards: ISO20000.

Preceding this voting, the standard was already copied and accepted in several other national standards bodies, like Australia and South-Africa.

The acceptance of ISO20000 will freeze its content for three years. Given the fact that some of the most ITIL-experienced countries voted against or didn't participate in the voting, this may lead to some additional national standards to be developed in the mean time.

The news comes at an appropriate time for ITpreneurs.
ITpreneurs has developed a comprehensive web-based Certification Training courseware for all levels of BS15000. The courseware has been co-developed in an exclusive content partnership with the British Standards Institute, UK and is ready for release.

Now with BS15000 becoming an International ISO standard, ITpreneurs is rightly positioned to quickly provide high quality training solutions that will bring organizations up-to-speed in getting ISO compliant.
