March 27, 2006 - Incorporating the feedback from COBIT users and experts worldwide, the IT Governance Institute (ITGI) has come out with version 4.0 of COBIT in February 2006. In tune with this development, ITpreneurs and ISACA updated the successful COBIT education curriculum in line with the updated version of COBIT.
As a first step, ITpreneurs launched COBIT Foundation Course and COBIT Awareness Course on the 31st of March 2006. The COBIT Foundation Exam, a standard for professionals who master COBIT at a Foundation level, will be available from the 28th of April this year.
About COBIT 4.0
The new edition COBIT 4.0 provides a stronger business focus to address the evolving responsibilities of boards and employees. COBIT 4.0 marks the first major update of the COBIT core content since the release of COBIT 3rd Edition in the year 2000. The first edition was published in 1994. The introduction of COBIT 4.0 does not invalidate work done with COBIT 3rd Edition, but provides the opportunity to build on that work and further improve IT governance and control arrangements, where appropriate.
The latest version of COBIT — COBIT® 4.0— emphasizes on regulatory compliance, helps organizations to increase the value attained from IT, enables alignment and simplifies implementation of the COBIT framework. COBIT 4.0 includes guidance for boards of directors and all levels of management.
About COBIT Foundation Course
ISACA® and ITpreneurs have successfully updated the COBIT Foundation Course to make it aligned with Version 4.0 of COBIT. The COBIT Foundation Course helps IT, Audit, Risk and Compliance professionals to master COBIT at a foundation level and apply this knowledge in a practical manner within the organizations they support. The COBIT framework is explained using practical examples and case study-driven learning. All other components from the COBIT toolkit are addressed as well. The course helps professionals understand how COBIT can be used in a logical and understandable manner and validates this knowledge through assessments and quizzes. An exam preparation module is included in the course, which prepares the participants to take on the official ISACA COBIT Foundation Exam.
The release plan of the updated course will ensure that Version 3.0 course will no longer be available from the 28th onwards, only Version 4.0 will be available. The learners who still are pursuing the COBIT 3.0 course can request an upgrade course for free. This means that they will be granted access to both 3.0 and 4.0 for a limited period of time.
Further, to offer holistic training solutions on COBIT, ITpreneurs will soon be launching the COBIT for Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance (e-learning) and the implementation workshop on COBIT - ‘Implementing IT governance using COBIT’ (classroom) for a structured education at all levels of organization.
COBIT for Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance (e-learning)
This course will be released on 25th of April this year. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act results in a requirement for effective control over IT systems and environments. This course aims to provide the learners a clear understanding of the S-Ox act and the implications of compliance on the IT organization.
